The ATIS Arterial Enhancements Workshop will provide a forum to solicit ideas for improving the az511.com website and 511 phone system user interfaces to facilitate better access to the real-time traveler information by the public. In order to ensure wider and diverse perspective the, target audience includes the AZTech Operations Committee, ATIS Working Group, members of the AZTech Executive Committee, Public Information Officers and MCDOT GIS and IT staff. The Workshop is scheduled to be held during the May AZTech Operations Committee meeting:

Wednesday, May 20, 2009
9:00 am - 11:30 am
MCDOT Maricopa/Cochise/Apache Conference Rooms
2901 W. Durango St., Phoenix
(NOTE: The normal AZTech Operations Committee meeting time has been extended by ½ hour, please update your calendars)

The ATIS Arterial Enhancement project, programmed in MAG FY 2009, has recently been initiated jointly by ADOT and MCDOT. The scope of the project includes the development of a system to transfer permitting and barricade system information (planned construction and event data) to the AZTech Regional Archived Data System (RADS). In addition to this interface modification, enhancements to the ADOT traveler information system are planned for deployment as part of this project. This includes software upgrades and modifications to both 511 internet and phone services, including new arterial mapping features and functionality for az511.gov. Overall, we expect that the project will facilitate significant system modernization and increase data accessibility at both the “front-end” (data input) and the “back-end” (data dissemination to the public).

This workshop will give participants an opportunity to review and comment on the concepts for the 511 phone system and az511.gov website. The feedback provided during this workshop will have a direct impact on the outcome of this project so participation is strongly encouraged.
