Data Exchange with Transit
In coordination with the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), the Regional Public Transportation Authority\Valley Metro (RPTA) is developing a Concept of Operations Plan (COP) to identify the potential opportunities and requirements necessary to integrate real-time transit data with the AZTech™ Regional Archive Data Server (RADS). Real-time transit data is currently being generated but data is not widely available. Integrating real-time transit data within RADS can potentially add value to the existing data currently being collected. Other potential benefits of integrating real-time transit data with other RADS data include:
- Ability to better manage congestion through the availability of real-time multi-modal data
- Availability of multi-modal real-time information will allow travelers to potentially reduce travel time
- Enhanced traveler safety and security through the availability of additional traveler information
The COP began in February 2009 and concludes in late 2009. The following elements will be identified in the COP:
- Availability of real-time transit data attributes
- Potential ATIS applications/services
- Hardware & software requirements
- Requirements for on-going public agency staff support
- Initial and on-going costs
At the conclusion of the study, funding opportunities for deployment will be assessed.
